Madame Premier Is Hitting the Road!

Madame Premier at Political Conventions and Events

Former Alberta Party MLA Karen McPherson and
Federal Green Party Candidate Natalie Odd

Madame Premier believes in achieving greater representation of self-identified women in all of their diversity in politics. Our mission is to spark dialogue on the lack of women in politics, the unique barriers they experience when running and increasing the number of women running and working on campaigns. Advancing women in politics must be a priority of all political parties.

This is why we have contacted every provincial party in Alberta and every federal party to ask about holding pop-ups or events at their conventions. You might be wondering why we are sharing this with you. Our business is political. We may be at a convention or event for a political party that you don’t support. We will be there because of our mission. How can we achieve our mission if we don’t actually do what we say we are going to do?

We recognize that you, like us, probably know from experience, that political parties, campaigns and back-rooms are still dominated by men and can be uncomfortable and unfriendly places for women. Our world needs the unique perspectives and ideas of women to be shared at decision-making tables with power, like in caucus and the cabinet table. We believe this is a multi-partisan issue and it must be addressed by all parties.

We will let you know which conventions and events we will be attending. We will also let you know which ones we may not be able to attend and why. We are also always looking for opportunities to hold public pop-ups. If you would like us to visit your city, your workplace or your event, let us know.

And don’t forget to follow us on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook to find out what we are up to. And never forget that a woman’s place is in politics.

We can’t wait to see you on the road!
